Pennsylvania
Blues Bands
lots
o'graphics so it's slow
loading - won't be too long...
This is a new page where
we will list blues bands
and
musicians from pennsylvania that we've
gone to see
and hear. If you know of any area blues bands,
please email us so that we can check them out.
I
will also list blues
bands from other areas who will be
playing nearby, and details on where they'll be. There will
be listings of bands whose music i've heard and liked, but
haven't yet experienced, and their schedules if available
for you to check out. I have also
included cool e-groups
for blues, jazz and classic rock lovers
and
don't forget to check out

New Blues Band in The Scranton Area
Check 'em out, here's my review.....

Diggs'
Blues Band
Rick
Penny - Guitar and Vocals, Bill Hyatt - Bass
and Vocals, Emile "Diggs" D'Amico - Harmonicas
We took a road
trip to the Allentown area to check out this blues band, and boy are we
glad we did. They played at a little place called Hannah's Hangover Inn,
in a town called Palm, Pa.
We had a great time - the stories from the trip and the stay at the hotel
alone were well worth it, but the band and the music made it a memorable
trip, and one we'd take again for a blues fix. If you have the
chance to go out and listen to them, they're worth taking a trip
for.
It's been hard to find many blues band at all in the northeast Pa.
area, let alone one that's this much fun to hear and hang out with.
This was the first time the four friends have taken a chance and traveled to see a band
they weren't familiar with, just based on instinct, the need for a blues
fix, and a cool email friendship we've developed over the past few
months with the band - lucky for me that it turned out to be a
blast.
Hopefully, this band will get to play a few gigs closer to home, but if not,
I'm sure we'll take our show on the road again and catch them when we
can. You should do the same, you'll be glad you did. And if
you own a club or venue where great blues is what you're looking for, let
us or the band know, you'll be doing Scranton and Table 5 a favor, believe
me. You'll hear traditional, hot blues ala Diggs' Blues Band, and we dare
you to stay in your seats for too long. And if you're a harp fan,
you're in for a real treat.
These guys are
also pretty cool to hang around with, too. Table 5's Lucy, Ethel, Ricky
and Fred, and our mobile
percussion section were kept busy all night, and Lucy and I were happy to
be asked up for a couple of tunes. By the end of the night, everyone
on the dance floor had a tambourine in their hands, courtesy of Table
5. The end of the evening came way too soon, but the band joined us
at table 5 for one of our traditional sing-alongs, and boy did we sound
good!

Teddy
Young and the Aces (Teddy is a Pittston native and
the band is formerly known as Young Guns) are touring
our area. We
caught their show on Nov. 3 at Own Lee's
Place, in Clarks Summit - great band, great music, nice
guyz. If you want to know what we thought of this band,
